I am inching up the learning curve. Unfortunately, because of my lack of shooting skills, I had to cut one of my favourites, false Solomon’s Seal. They are wonderful and juicy and sweet. I hear tell that they are bitter on the other side of the continent. Cow parsnip has a similar taste, but make sure you know your ID well. It can be mistaken for water hemlock. New shoots of the Rubus genus (salmonberry and thimbleberry around here) are tasty when peeled.
